Today in Youth Group...
We learned how to complain like they do in the Bible! We learned a type of prayer called a "lament". It is one of the types of writing found in the Psalms. A lament contains a greeting, a complaint, an Affirmation of Trust, a Petition, and a promise of praise. The Psalm that we prayed at Mass today (Psalm 17) is a lament too!.
You can make more Laments at home using this document. We also talked about the first reading, where some of the followers of God were tortured for their beliefs and how brave they were when they stood up to their torturers.
You can use the questions in this document to dive deeper into that story.
At home ask your child...
- What are the things that you feel like complaining about in your life right now?
- How can you praise God even when times are difficult?
Please Note...
